So the ladies decided to take a slight break after the morning work effort and went to the Spa. The hairsalon was giving free styling to all blahs (whites) and the Canyon Springs ladies took them up on it.... see pictures above.<<

Greg, Nick, Rob and Woody are leading the efforts on the new housing....and the American building knowledge and experienced has been slowed by Haitian materials and heat, but they are pushing through with excellence.

We are also getting the orphanage a new transformer so they can have some electricity! Details on that amazing effort to come when there's more time.

This is a quick blog, because we're about to get on the bus to "Head to work", and believe us, be grateful for San Diego traffic! God has kept us and is keeping us safe, but accidents are common here. There is so much to tell you, and this blog can only scratch a very large surface. We miss you all and can't wait to get back, but we also know God has us here for a reason, and we're working for that reason. See you soon and God bless!

Reality

Friends and family just wanted you all to know we are healthy and happy and making a difference. Worked at the orpphanage today and fell in love with the children. Started to build dormitories. The situation is desperate here, overwhelmed yesterday by the devastation and poverty, we are meant to be here. YES it is Hot and humid but the joy we felt at church yesterday was incredible.
Here's some things the team now appreciates: ice,, showers, clean underwear, paved roads, ac, cold drinks, being able to put tp in toilet, starbucks, family, no goats, quiet nights, electricity, trash pickup, fruit and veggies, beds, earthquake safe homes, ice cream, an;ything frozesn, not smelling like bug spray, home depot, puppies you can pet, our overall good fortune.
We may miss these things but willing to give them all up to make a difference!!!

We briefly toured Port au Prince yesterday and honestly, there are no words to describe the devastation. Although we will try to tell you stories, show you pictures and video, there is no duplicating this experience. To see the how little has been done to clean up the damage, it makes you truly grateful that God chose us to live where we live. That by no doing of our own, we have been blessed to live where we do. Thank God for that and pray for those that have not been given what we have. It gives new understanding to the scripture that says, to those that have been given much, much is demanded. If you have electricity and a functional bathroom….. you have been given much by comparison. I am grateful to live where we live, and honestly can’t wait to get back there! Welcome

From July 10 through 18, we have an opportunity to travel to Haiti on a humanitarian mission. Our team of volunteers will help to reduce the suffering of Haitian children by build transitional homes for over 50 orphans who were left homeless by the quake.

Haiti is the most densely populated nation in the western hemisphere. Plagued by disease and malnutrition more than three quarters of the population live in extreme poverty.

On January 12, 2010 a 7.0 magnitude earth quake struck the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince. Over 250,000 died and hundreds of thousands homeless. The earth quake is a tremendous blow to this poor nation, from which it will take years to recover.

While God has opened the door for us to develop a greater heart of compassion for this suffering nation, you can share in this endeavor with us by, praying for our mission and following our blog.
